Boat Insurance

Boat insurance is offered by most insurance providers as a additional or separate insurance contract. Most boat owners take out insurance due to the environmental factors involved in ownership of a boat or marine vehicle.

Options for cover are similar to those of a car: comprehensive or third party. Cover can cover incidents such as weather damage from storms, theft, arson, willful damage and collisions. Also similar to vehicle insurance is the cost being highly dependent on the type of marine vehicle you own - powerboat, stock boats, trailers, off beach craft, or a personal watercraft such as a jet ski or wave runner.

To apply for boat insurance you need to provide the registration number, storage details, motor details, approximate value of the boat, modifications and a boat license in the policy holders name.

Boat insurance can be taken out with a number of providers including Allianz, NRMA, RACV, GIO, CGU, Suncorp and Nautilus Marine Insurance.
