Home and Contents Insurance

Home and contents insurance is offered by all the major insurance players: AAMI, GIO, BudgetDirect, Allianz and NRMA amongst others. Home owners almost always bundle contents insurance with their home insurance. Renters obviously do not pay home insurance and so take out a separate contents insurance policy. However, this is usually called a "home and contents insurance" policy as well.

There are home and contents insurance calculators online, however it helps to know what affects the price of home and contents insurance. For example, factors include the address of the residence, the agreed value of the contents and the security measures in place at the residence (such as lockable windows and alarm systems).

Most basic home and contents insurance quotes do not cover items that frequently leave the premises such as laptops.
