Superannuation Employer Funds

Every employer in Australia is obliged to provide super contributions to their employees. This applies to employees over 18 and are paid $450 or more in a calendar month. This contribution must also be at least 9% of base earnings.

An employer fund is the default fund that your superannuation will be paid into. Since 2006, employees have been given the option to choose the fund they wanted their superannuation paid into.

Your employer must now provide you with paperwork to allow you to nominate your own fund such as REST, Suncorp, MLC or Virgin Money.
