Piaggio Motorbikes
While Piaggio are famous for being the makers of the Vespa scooter, there's a lot more to this fascinating company than you may be first aware of.
The first bit of interesting trivia about the makers of the Vespa scooter is that they also make aircraft, micro cars, and several other brands of motorcycle and scooter. These other brands include marques such as Aprilia, Derbi, Gilera and Laverda.
However, Piaggio's core products are motor scooters, mopeds and motorbikes - especially the famous Vespa scooter (more about this below). A little-known fact is that Piaggio are the 4th largest motor scooter and motorbike manufacturer in the world.
The Vespa scooter is undoubtedly the most famous of the Piaggio products.
Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck rode one in "Roman Holiday" in 1952, and Marlon Brando, Charlton Heston and John Wayne all either owned one or rode them on their movie sets in between takes. When you ride a Vespa scooter, you are saying to the world that you value style over blandness, and form as well as function.
